Performing a Normal (Soft) Reset on a Samsung SPH-i770

A normal reset is sometimes referred to as a soft reset. A normal reset stops all running applications but does not erase any programs or saved data.

Caution be sure to save any unsaved data before performing a normal reset since a normal reset erases all unsaved data.

  1. Locate the Reset button positioned just below the Camera/Camcorder key on the right side of the phone.
  2. Carefully inserting a thin blunt object (such as your stylus) into this slot will exit the current screen and cycle power to the phone.

Performing a Hard (Full) Reset on a Samsung SPH-i770

A full reset is sometimes referred to as a hard reset. Perform a full reset when you want to clear all settings, programs and data from RAM. A full reset deactivates the battery the power button does not function until the battery is reactivated.

Caution if you perform a full reset, your Samsung SPH-i770 returns to its default settings and looses all information that is not recorded in ROM.

  1. Locate both the Reset button and the Optical Mouse (shown below).This process requires the reset button and the Optical Mouse be pressed simultaneously to initiate the reset process.

  1. Press and hold the Optical Mouse and Reset simultaneously (by using a blunt object such as your stylus) for a few seconds.
  2. First release Reset then the Optical Mouse. This action restarts the phone, clears any data stored on the phone, and then cycle power to the phone.
  3. The prompt: “Are you sure you want to format?” appears, press the SEND key to format, or END key to cancel.
  4. Once the phone starts, you must tap the LCD screen using your Stylus to begin the calibration process.
