Performing a Normal (Soft) Reset on a Treo 700wx
A normal reset is sometimes referred to as a soft reset. A normal reset stops all running applications but does not erase any programs or saved data.
Caution be sure to save any unsaved data before performing a normal reset since a normal reset erases all unsaved data.
To perform a soft reset:
- Press the battery door release button, and slide the battery door downward to remove it from your smartphone.
- Use the stylus tip to gently press the reset button on the back of your smartphone.
- Wait for the progress bar on the Treo logo screen to fill before continuing to use your smartphone.

Performing a Hard Reset on a Treo 700wx
A full reset is sometimes referred to as a hard reset. Perform a full reset when you want to clear all settings, programs and data from RAM.
Caution if you perform a full reset, your Palm Treo 750 returns to its default settings and looses all information that is not recorded in ROM.
To perform a hard reset:
- Press the Battery Door Release button, and slide the battery door downward to remove it from your smartphone.
- While pressing and holding Power/End
, use the tip of the stylus to gently press the reset button on the back of your smartphone.
- Continue pressing and holding Power/End
. When the logo screen appears, release Power/End
.
- When the “Erase all data?” prompt appears, press Up
. to confirm the hard reset.
- If a language selection screen appears, select the same language you selected for your desktop software.
- Wait for the progress bar on the Treo logo screen to fill before continuing to use your smartphone.
- (Optional) Sync your smartphone with your computer to restore your previously synchronized info. Connect your smartphone to your computer, press Menu
(right action key), and then select Programs > ActiveSync > Sync. If you use a backup utility, you mayalso need to restore a backup to recover additional info and settings.
