Performing a Normal (Soft) Reset on a Apple iPod Touch
A normal reset is sometimes referred to as a soft reset. A normal reset stops all running applications but does not erase any programs or saved data.
Caution be sure to save any unsaved data before performing a normal reset since a normal reset erases all unsaved data.
To perform a soft reset:
- Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
- Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch.
- To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appear If you can’t turn off iPod touch or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPod touch. A reset should be done only if turning iPod touch off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.

- To perform this reset press and hold both the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Performing a Hard Reset on an Apple iPod Touch
A full reset is sometimes referred to as a hard reset. Perform a full reset when you want to clear all settings, programs and data from RAM.
Caution if you perform a full reset, your Apple iPod returns to its default settings and looses all information that is not recorded in ROM.
To perform a hard reset:
- This will be called restoring. To do this connect your iPod to your computer, run iTunes and choose the 'Restore' Option.
