Performing a Hard Reset on a HTC Smart
A full reset is sometimes referred to as a hard reset. Perform a full reset when you want to clear all settings, programs and data from RAM.
Caution if you perform a full reset, your HTC Smart returns to its default settings and looses all information that is not recorded in ROM.
Performing a hard reset through phone settings.
- From the main Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Security > Factory reset.
- Enter “1234”, and then tap OK.
Perform a hard reset while the phone is switched off.
- Press and hold the VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN and END CALL/POWER buttons
. You will then see this message on screen:

- Once this message appears, press the VOLUME DOWN button to perform the factory reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
- When prompted, press the VOLUME DOWN button to turn on the phone.
